This modem looks like optimal by price/performance criteria today (end of year 2000). For almost $50 you buy good V.90 modem with voice support based on wide spread Rockwell chipset and without the lack of features which unfortunately have most of the modems with comparable price.

I do not now how it works on bad lines but on my new digital ATS it provides stable 49333/50667 bps from ROL.
